Mindful Living!

How many of us at some point in their life have looked for happiness? We all come across quotes that talk about being happy in our own company, that talk about how happiness is a journey, not a destination, and the list goes on.

Some of us find happiness in buying things like shopping for an event, buying automobiles, so on and so forth. Some look for happiness in experiencing things like visiting new places, trying out adventurous sports, etc.

What about the current situation? A lot of the places that used to be a “chilling” point have become inaccessible to us owing to the pandemic that has covered the entire globe in its bubble. Today I am going to talk about being mindful with a simple example that made the definition of happiness so clear to me.

I am no spiritual guru and I only am sharing what worked for me. It may or may not resonate with your current situation but the concept should be comprehensive enough to be implemented in your daily life.

Google says and I quote,

“Mindfulness is the psychological process of purposely bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment without judgment, which one develops through the practice of meditation and through other training.”

Now to simplify this, I shall explain it with an example. Say, you are sitting at home cutting vegetables and thinking to yourself, “What a boring life! I got nothing better to do with my time now!” and suddenly 10 mins into the process you get a call carrying awful news of someone close meeting with an accident. Now that you have imagined this situation, I'd like you to pause for a moment and think. Would you not trade anything to be in the same position you were in 10 minutes before receiving that call? Suddenly the time when you were cutting vegetables became such a happy moment.

You see, if we look at life through the lens of mindfulness, everything in the present becomes so special and it makes us grateful to be in the here and the now. This philosophy will remind you to be humble with one another at all times thus spreading joy and happiness wherever you go and to whoever you meet.

With this, I’d like to end this blog here. Remember to share your feedback and views on the topic. If there is something you would like me to talk about, I am all ears and would love to simplify complicated life hacks for you!
